Description

The Dandelion Terminator was designed to destroy dandelions and other broadleaf weeds. It looks like an oversized spade bit for drilling in wood, but it is equipped with a very aggressive point with sharp teeth on both sides of the blade. Mounted in a cordless drill, the blade drills and plucks the dandelion right out of the ground. The super-tough spring-loaded nylon ejector pushes the dandelion off the tool.

Basically, the specially designed teeth grab hold of the foliage and the top of the weed root. As the drill spins, it wraps the weed like spaghetti on a fork and cuts off the weed head. The entire process takes about a second.

Imagine not having to work on your knees to plug those nasty weeds! This tool also works on any similarly structured broadleaf foliage. To make it even more comfortable, add a 6- or 12-inch drill extension, available at any hardware store.

For safety, the shaft was designed without the three flat spots that normally ensure a strong grip in the drill chuck's jaws. If the bit comes up against a rock during use, the shaft would spin in the chuck instead of the drill spinning out of your hand and possibility twisting your wrist.

Here's how the Dandelion Terminator works:

  1. Place the point of the cutting edge into the center of the weed. If the dandelion has gone to seed, pluck the stem to prevent spreading seeds.
  2. Apply a slight downward pressure as you quickly squeeze and release the trigger. It only takes two or three rotations and a 1/2- or 3/4-inch penetration into the soil. The manufacturer recommends that you switch your tool to the "slow" position. If your drill has a variable speed trigger, keep your finger off the trigger.
  3. After the weed is wrapped around the blade, slide the ejector sleeve towards the blade's point and eject the remains of the weed into a bucket.
  4. Drop a pinch of table salt into the hole to ensure that the dandelion does not regrow.

Weighing just under a pound, the Dandelion Terminator is 14 inches long. Its solid brass handle with knurled end is wrapped around a 5/16-inch steel shaft connected to a 13-gauge zinc-coated blade.

This very high-quality garden tool is manufactured in Montana. The inventor calls the Dandelion Terminator the best "Weapon of Mass Dandelion Destruction." It targets and defeats the dreaded dandelion invasion!
