Description

Replaceable carbide grit-coated blades are 1/16" thick, which allows you to work with tiles that have a thin grout line. If you wish, you can add a total of 4 blades to the shaft (two on each side) to cut grout lines up to 1/2" in a single pass. Wider grout lines can be cut with a second pass. It is important to choose a blade thickness less than the joint width to prevent the tool from binding in the grout line and damaging the edge of the tile.

A single blade will clear grout from about 300 square feet of tile depending on how old the grout is and the type of grout used.

You can order as many GG002 replacement blades as you wish with the purchase of the Grout Grabber Kit (GG-001) and save $3.60 per blade.

IMPORTANT NEWS!

Our inventory of Grout Grabber replacement blades has been completely depleted, and we will no longer be able to sell the product.

Since August 7, 2001, we have reviewed, tested, and promoted the Grout Grabber product line, on our editorial site AskToolTalk.com and on TV and radio through our live ToolTalk show featured at home and garden shows throughout United States and Canada. We also sold the Grout Grabber product line through the ecommerce portion of AskToolTalk.com and directly through this website.

Unfortunately, in 2010 the manufacturer made a deal with a big box home center to sell the product line with special packaging at a ridiculously low price and to drop-ship individual orders for the home center. Basically, the home center put the product line on their website (not in the store) and the manufacturer fills the orders for the home center.

This is actually kind of funny because about 9 years ago when we decided to sell the product line, the manufacturer drop-shipped our orders for us in the same way. Then, after about two years of filling our orders, the manufacturer didn't want to continue the arrangement unless they could charge a per order drop-ship fee. I knew that customers would not pay an extra to have an order shipped to them on top of the product price and the shipping cost. That high drop-ship fee forced us to purchase and stock the product line.

I wonder if the Grout Grabber Company charges the home center a drop-ship fee to have their individual orders shipped?

Last year (2010) we couldn’t figure out why our sales were dropping. By surfing the web, we discovered the Grout Grabber product line on a home center's website at an extremely low price. The company told me that in order for them to survive, they had no choice but to enter the main retail stream with an agreement with a home center to sell their product line.

At the time, we didn't have an issue with this because we currently sell products that are in home centers. However, the Grout Grabber product line is not actually for sale in the stores but is on their website, which puts them in direct competition with online dealers like us. We simply cannot compete with their prices.

Because we have been with associated with the product for such a long time, the company offered us special pricing so we can continue selling the line. However, when it came time to order inventory, the manufacturer went back on their word and would not sell us the product line because their packaging design was an excusive to the home center. At that time we knew the manufacturer still had on hand the older inventory that we have been selling but they wouldn’t sell that to us either.

We have been in this business for over 30 years, and have seen many small businesses make deals with home centers with special prices only to find themselves having to lower the quality of the product line in order to meet the special prices required by big box home centers. Already I have received complaints from customers who didn't like the quality of the Grout Grabber replacement blades they purchased from the home center. We ended up selling products from our older inventory to those customers. We are unable to determine if there is a quality difference because the manufacturer has not sent us for review any of their new blades manufactured overseas specifically for the home center.

So here we are, folks. We apologize that after almost 10 years of supplying the Grout Grabber product line, we no longer have replacement blades to sell. Once our kits sell out, we will no longer be able to help you with your tile project.
